About your facilitator 🧑‍🎨

Samantha Dobbin holds a Master’s degree in Art-therapy from Concordia University since May 2021. She has gained experience working with adults, children and teens. She currently works as an art therapist in a school, a CIUSSS, different community centers and in her private practice as well. She uses mostly an integrated approach to art therapy which includes notions from the psychodynamic and humanistic models, as well as the 3rd wave Cognitive Behavioural therapy model CFT (Compassion focused therapy). She carries a passion for helping people reach better mental and spiritual health as well as for the accessibility of such services to all.

To Samantha, Art-therapy is the use of art for self-expression, for accessing, soothing and empowering ourselves through the creative process. Through this process facilitated by an art-therapist, one can gain awareness, better understanding, peace and acceptance as well as transformation.
