What is upcycling clothing? 👚

Upcycling clothing is taking old or unwanted garments and turning them into something you’d wear. It can be done by cutting, painting, or any other form of modification. The process allows for self expression, emotional release and a sense of accomplishment.

There will be a repair area open to everyone. You’ll be taught a couple different methods of repair – sewing back buttons, needle felting to repair holes in wool sweaters, and sashiko stitching to mend holes and tears in other garments.

Each table will provide the necessary materials for the activity, however you can bring personal supplies as well. There will be clothing available, however, we recommend bringing a clothing item in case you don’t find a size or style that suits you.

Note: If you have specific design in mind please bring the suitable materials as we might not have them available. (ie. a color/pattern of fabric or thread that matches your item).
