Often when we think about mental health, we focus on the mind and we tend to forget how experiences are held within our bodies. So much healing can come from reconnecting with our bodies. Meaghen will start the event by providing information about the physical and mental health benefits of expanding a sense of presence with body and mind. They will then dive into exploring multiple pathways and play with a variety of tools and entry points to find what works for you.

The last portion of the event will consist of a lightly guided meditation by Fimo, followed by a lengthy sound bath where you can rest within yourself and community.

About your facilitators:

Meaghen Buckley (she/they) is an artist, teacher and drama therapist practicing in Montreal. She is fascinated by the relationships between feeling, sensing, and thinking and explores their expression in creative and therapeutic practice. Her studies in dance, linguistics, yoga, movement and somatic practices inform her research and teaching work.

Fimo Mitchell (he/him) is a meditation teacher, a writer and a podcast host. In 2020 he founded When The Village Meditates, a nonprofit committed to creating meditation, yoga, and discussion spaces, along with wellness retreats that centers racialized and marginalized people. In 2021, Fimo released his third book titled Pastel Remembrances. Every Tuesday, he hosts the When The Village Meditates podcast featuring ten minutes of meditation and five minutes of insightful speech.
