About your facilitators 👋:
Tanja (she/her) is a yoga teacher, musician and bonafide nerd. She meets the practice where it lives today—in real bodies, complex lives, and uncertain times. With 400+ training hours, a music/finance background, and a blend of ancient wisdom and postmodern honesty, Tanja teaches with sincerity and depth, welcoming those on yoga’s edges—disillusioned, questioning, or seeking their way back. Grounded in embodied anti-racism and unlearning body hierarchies, she teaches weekly at Studio Mile End and facilitates in North America with When The Village Meditates.
Fimo (he/him) is a meditation teacher, writer, and podcast host. He began teaching meditation while living in China, where he spent 16 years. After moving back to Montreal in 2019, Fimo began hosting group meditation sessions in his apartment and in 2020 he founded When The Village Meditates. Fimo is the author of three books and every Tuesday, he hosts the When The Village Meditates podcast featuring ten minutes of meditation and five minutes of insightful speech.
When The Village Meditates is a nonprofit organization founded by Fimo Mitchell in 2020, dedicated to creating meditation, yoga and discussions as well as wellness retreats for racialized and marginalized communities. Its mission is to support inner healing and personal growth within a compassionate and empathetic community.
